Cremation Permit Directions
1. Obtain a signature on the DC
PCP or Medical Examiner
2. Pay the Cremation Permit Fee: Follow the instructions listed below for your county.
3. Use EDRS for the Official Cremation Permit Request to Dr. Paul Wagner
Oceana County ONLY: Cremation Permit Request sent to Dr. Rudy Ochs
4. Send receipt of payment to the Medical Examiner's Office via fax (231 400 0806) or email (main.mmmeg.org)
Include the decedent's name, your email address and/or fax number.
This step is not necessary for Alpena County.
5. Medical Examiner signed DCs ONLY: Include a request for a Death Certificate via EDRS for the Medical Examiner to complete and sign via EDRS.
A cremation permit review will be conducted and requests fulfilled via EDRS. Our Policy is a 24-hour turnaround period. If you have an extenuating circumstance, email the Medical Examiner's Office (main@mmmeg.org).
